FilmYou

FilmYou is a distributed recommendation platform capable of making personalised recommendations using collaborative filtering techniques in a big data environment. We apply our novel algorithms in order to compute item recommendations obtaining outstanding performance.

Its easy to use and comfortable interface gives users the opportunity of searching, browsing and rating films as well as obtaining personalised recommendations.

Nowadays, scalability is a critical factor in the design of any system working with Big Data. In particular, it has been recognised as a main challenge in the construction of recommender systems. FilmYou architecture is designed for achieving scalability and high availability in this kind of environments. For example, we use highly sophisticated technologies such as Apache Hadoop (MapReduce) and Apache Cassandra (NoSQL column-store).
